‘Watersnake’ is a great new tune from Scott Hardware, a Toronto-based avant-pop artist and composer. This track takes a new route from that of his previous album, Engel. Rather than gritty industrial sounds and complex electronics, Hardware has delivered something a little more accessible and more direct. We’re hit with catchy hooks and textures that are brought together by delightful strings and acoustic guitar strumming. “I mean no disrespect to snakes, but it’s ghastly to see them slither over top of the water,” he says. “It all must have left a mark because when I sat down to write a song about a villain, an exploiter, the first thing I thought of was ‘Watersnake’.” Make sure to check out Scott Hardware’s upcoming third album, Ballad Of A Tryhard, which is due for release on March 4^th, 2022. -Dan Peeke
